BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
Restoring femininity and
confidence after cancer.
A deeply meaningful surgery
For many women, facing breast cancer is not only a medical challenge but also an emotional one. The loss of a breast after mastectomy can affect self-image, femininity, and confidence.
Breast reconstruction offers much more than a physical result: it is a way to feel complete again, to regain balance, and to move forward with confidence.
Dr Michael Veber approaches this procedure with sensitivity, knowing that every woman’s story is unique.
His goal is not only to rebuild the breast but to support women in reclaiming their identity and comfort after a difficult journey.
Your reconstruction options (tailored)
-
Implant-based reconstruction
Modern implants, with or without tissue expanders, placed pre-pectoral or sub-pectoral depending on tissue quality, comfort, and radiation history. -
Autologous (your own tissue) refinement
Fat grafting (lipofilling) to soften edges, correct contour defects, and improve skin quality (especially in radiated tissue); often staged for finesse. -
Nipple–areola complex (NAC)
Surgical nipple creation and/or medical micropigmentation for realistic color and projection. -
Symmetry procedures
Lift, reduction, or augmentation on the other breast for balance.
Timing: immediate or delayed
-
Immediate (during cancer surgery): fewer surgeries, emotional continuity, earlier return to shape.
-
Delayed: after treatments (e.g., radiotherapy) to optimize tissue quality and planning.
Choice depends on oncologic protocol, anatomy, lifestyle, and personal preference.
The procedure (what to expect)
-
Duration: typically 1.5–4 hours (technique- and stage-dependent)
-
Anaesthesia: general
-
Stay: outpatient or 1 night for comfort/monitoring
-
Staging: may include expander placement → implant exchange; serial fat grafting for softness; final NACrefinement
Hospitalization and recovery
Patients typically stay 2 to 3 nights at the clinic, ensuring comfort and close monitoring.
A period of 2 to 3 weeks of rest is recommended before returning to daily life. Sports and physical activities are usually resumed after 6 to 8 weeks. Healing continues gradually, with final results visible after several months.
Recovery & milestones
-
Daily life: light activity in 7–10 days
-
Support bra: as advised; begin scar care once healed
-
Sports: usually 4–6 weeks (technique-dependent)
-
Refinement: swelling settles over weeks; staged touch-ups polish symmetry and softness
Results you can expect
-
A contour that feels authentic and suits your frame
-
Softer transitions at the upper pole/cleavage with adjunct fat grafting
-
Improved symmetry in clothing and swimwear
-
A process centered on comfort, proportion, and confidence
Safety & coordination
All planning is coordinated with your oncology team. Risks (infection, capsular contracture, implant issues, fat resorption, asymmetry) are discussed transparently; careful technique and follow-up reduce complications and guide expectations.
Why Dr Veber recommends this approach

Dr Veber combines his surgical expertise with empathy and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring results that are both natural and reassuring.
